Representing the SPDA: Tony K Luca P Mike A
Event Journal: Day 1 - Test and Tune Test and Tune went by with some glitches.
TonyK, Luca and Mike arrived at the test and tune to go through their paces and size up the competition. Approximately 30 contestants were present to take advantage of a small test layout in order to setup their cars for the surface.
Luca and Mike A arrived with no hickups, positioing them for a good run in DSP. Notable Questionables: Tony McGrath and Stephen Tong encountered difficulties with their clutch and are in dire straits to get it in before Saturdays' competition. Their clutch started slipping badly during the day which may render their positioning relegated to the sidelines.
Minor glitches abound, which took Tony K by surprise. Spongy brake pedal maybe caused by airl in the lines. Last week, TonyK replaced the brake lines in his car and installed the braided variety, only during the test and tune, did it manifest itself. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Andrew C showed up sans Golf, and has chosen to compete in his Beetle instead. The golf had clutch problems and tranny problems which kept it in the garage.
Here's hoping that all our Ontario Gladiators have a better day.
Day 2 Report: Early News Tony M and Steve T, have decided to run their Miata with the slipping clutch. They will be trying to nurse their ailing Miata throughout the day. UAP will be delivering a replacement clutch sometime today and they intend to do a field replacement sometime this evening.
Day 2 - Continued Competitor Count = 102, All competitors received 4 runs today but the event was not without controversy"
Difficulties in timing Controversy on Course Design - At the moment there are complaints from competitors because of course design. Though it was a fast layout with 2nd and 3rd gear redline design, some feel that the course was particularly setup for the Local Hero, David, driving a BMW. It's unclear at this time if the course was actually designed by David, or he actually participated in the course layout and testing.
Steve T / Tony M: Clutch news It’s in, finally compted by 6:30 this morning with the aid of Tony K R Tucker, and friends. Here’s hoping they kick major “you know what” throughout the day.
