:-( Was late to the open house....
My fiancee is sick, so I left later than I would have liked.
I didn't get into the school days.
Bought myself a shiny new tax-free (thanks CSC) helmet, but forgot my credit card and got a phone call (thanks again CSC) to turn around and pick it up...
To top it all off my check engine light came on with the cruise flashing just as I pulled back into guelph... good thing I'm due for a service anyways.

So add me to the wait list... I don't want to be a noob. :-D

Please PM me your email address. I think our Treasurer emailed you yesterday informing you that it was full. With the correct email address, we can refund you back immediately.

Sorry for the confusion.

Wow 71 rookies. Looks like solo2 will be healthy this year. If we have that many rookies doing regionals this should be a good battle to watch.

You guys could easily fill another Autoslalom school if you decide to hold one a month later.

Day 2 has been opened up to Novices. We urge all persons that are only attending Day 2 to have at least 1 event under their belts.

We'll be setting some time aside in the morning for the people that are attending Day 2 only, and we'll be going over some important exercises.

Thank You

See you there

Thank you for signing up for the 2007 CASC-OR Autoslalom School. Attached is an interesting article to read, to help prepare you for the exciting 2 days of advanced driver training.

Note: This is an autoslalom school, some of the technicques you’ll be learning can be considered extreme. Most of the extreme maneuvers you’ll be learning during the event will be beneficial to you on the street, in the form of accident avoidance. We urge you to arrive with a positive mental attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to smile endlessly throughout the 2 days.

In return, we will provide to you the most fun you’ll have while learning valuable skills. The instructors on hand are all experienced autcrossers, most of which have multiple championship wins under their belts.

Enjoy your day!

Things to prepare for the school:

Interior:
• Please clean the windows of your car to provide you with the best visibility
• Please remove all floor mats from the car
• Remove any item that may become dislodged and potential impede the use of your brake or accelerator pedal
• Empty the trunk from all loose debris

Exterior and Under Hood:
• Check your oil level, they should be within manufacturer specs
• Brakes must be in good working order and enough pad to stop you safely
• Tires Inflated 10 PSI above factory recommended pressures front and rear
• Gas tank at least ½ full
• Tires with no cords showing
• Lug nuts holding the wheels tightened to factory spec
• Car in good working condition

For the driver:
• Appropriate clothing for the weather
• Bring plenty of water
• Comfortable closed shoes (no sandals, or open toe shoes)
• A positive mental attitude
• Snell 2000 or later model helmet

Nice to have:
• Air compressor
• White shoe polish (to mark tires)

Upon arriving at the Brampton Sports and Entertainment Center, located just north of Derry Rd, on Kennedy in Mississauga, please drive into the south entrance, and park in the designated areas. A helpful staffer will assist you in locating an appropriate spot.

After you’ve unloaded your car, please proceed to registration, and sign the waiver. Check in and await for instruction.

You will be assigned to one of 2 groups. We will have approximately 30 instructors on hand, to provide the students with a 1:1 ratio, complete with feedback and corrective narration.

Hey Joe in the Driving tips in the PDF it says brake hard in the corner. Shouldn't it be brake hard before the corner?

Ryan, thanks for the heads up, I can see how that topic title could be misleading. I have changed it and updated the site. Thanks again.

A little rain is actually a good learning tool, it's just not so fun for the marshals. ;-)

Have a great weekend guys, wish I could be there too! :-D

Hi Marlon,

Thanks for the kind words. Speaking on behalf of the instructors, and some of the feedback from them, it was a pleasure teaching this year.

Have a read here: http://www.ottawasubaru.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6983

I'd like to second Marlon's appreciation to the volunteers. While I only participated in the second day, it quickly became clear how useful the first day's events were for the students who hadn't had any previous AutoX experience. I'm sure I could've benefitted from it too!

I felt so good throughout the day knowing that every one of my 6 'laps' around the course had me improving some way or another (whether it being a smoother run or a quicker time, or both). And it was definitely all thanks to the enthusiastic and diverse direction from the instructors.

Of note, I really appreciated Marsh helping my group with the walk-through; Rhys for riding with me twice and pointing out some key areas-to-improve and Greg with his clip-board map really helped illustrate where improvements were needed in my run. Thanks to Rob for showing me what my car (the black '06 MX-5) is capable of in skilled hands. And most of all, thanks to JoeT and the rest of the volunteers for orchestrating such a great and useful event.

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you again this Sunday at the HADA event in Brampton... and on the 26th at the MSOC event in Oakville.

Yeehaw!

By the way... will the final times be posted here? I never did get to see how much I improved on my final run...

Hi All,

I really enjoyed orchestrating the 2 days alongside a great bunch of people that more than contributed to the entire day.

Hope to see you out there, and hope you get as addicted as we are.

Thanks again.

I'm sorry that I had to leave early, but I suppose it was a good thing. We ended up changing deck colours to what I DIDN'T want. (But did that ever matter? No....)

Yup, that Mini was fun to get in and out of. Once I was in, I stayed in for a second time. :-)

Unfortunately, I just walk right by Lotus Elise... haven't tried to squeeze myself into one yet for fear that I won't fit.
