Exclusive to SPDA, Toyo Tires is doing a pre-release introduction of the new R888 3G compound. Toyo competition tires are very well known in the racing industry for their long lasting extremely durable tire design. To top things off, Toyo is now considering importing the new 3G compound to Canada, starting off with SPDA.

In this campaign, SPDA will be used as a test market to see how well these tires will perform in competition. We will be the first in North America to take advantage of this new fantastic compound.

To qualify you must:
1) Have used Toyo Products in competition in 2008 or 2007
2) Willing to write an article comparing the R888 3G to RA-1, or Hoosier R6, or Kumho V710.
3) Be a member in good standing with SPDA.

Articles can be as short as 1 paragraph, to a full blown test report.

What you'll receive is special pricing from Toyo and access to this tire.

Interested persons, please post here with the following information:

Tire Size
Car Type
Quantity of Tires (Sets):

Note: This is a special order item only, prepayment will be required and shippments are expected to show up in early april.

Purchasing instructions have been posted in the members only section. Along with announcement for the RA-1 Selloff!!

if I can score another set of 15" wheels, and the price for the rubber is mind blowing, I might be in for a set. Do we get to see pricing before we commit?

I'll post up the info just in case too

What's the time frame for finding out what sizes will be available? I'm not too confident that the 245-45-16 is available in GGG...

Robin

that size 245-45-16 is a popular size for the wrx owners with 16x8 rotas...

Also, when is the deadline to get our sizes in?

If anyone sees any 17x9 to 10 wheels 5 x 100 LMK. I'd like to change to 275-40-17 this year. I think I should have the room if I can find a +35 to 38ish offset. (Depending on wheel width)

Thanks Loui. Okay, I changed my size. The 275/40/17's are getting shoehorned in, come hell or high water.

FYI: I *might* be willing to part with one set of SSR Comp 17" x 8.5" +48 rims in gunmetal with polished lip. Price would have to be in the $1300 ballpark though, or else I might as well keep them for... for... well rain tires I guess. They were $2400 + tax / shipping new. 15.7 lbs each. People who lift these wheels say "Oh my god, these are lighter than my 15's!" Minor dings, scratches and bends but they don't leak at all.

I'm surprised there aren't more people interested in this! :-o

Heck, I've got two sets of RA-1's to use up but dang, if Toyo is going to give us a deal on R888, I'll burn up a set for testing this year! The RA-1's will be good for a few more years! :-D

I know.... I'll have 3 sets...

- lapping ra1's 30-40% left
- last years R888 60% left
and probably R888 GGG for 2009.

I'd say my RA1s are at 50% or a little less from not enough camber... I've had them flipped and we'll see how long they last. If I get a set of cheap wheels, I'll probably do 3G this year and save the RA1s for lapping and if I make it out to picton.

There be a set of wheels in the for sale section that might be a good deal, whether to sell the z211s or keep them becomes the question... how much can I get for the z211s and how much will the 225/45/16s or 245/40/16 3Gs be... I didn't really want to spend anything on the car this year but I also really don't like the prospect of sitting out events if my RA1s don't last the year.

There may be some availability issue with the 235/45/17 if no one else is interested in that size. It MIGHT be hard for us to get 2 tires. (we'll see) But...

235/45/17 has an OD of 25.3"
255/40/17 has an OD of 25.1"
235/40/17 has an OD of 24.6"

Do you know if the electronics on your car would mind having a tire 0.5" smaller in diameter up front instead of 0.2" larger? With the shorter sidewall, the 235/40/17 is noticeably crisper, and we already have two sets of those requested by our Ottawa crew...?

235/40/17 will be fine for my fronts.

Allen, depending on how old and how much life is left in the Z211's you should be looking around $400ish.

We'll have to wait and see the pricing for the GGG...

looks like daniel sold the tires already, pope has 16x8 slipstreams for the same price up here, so I'll just grab his set in the spring, so all I need to do is decide between 225 or 245.

Waiting on word about a set of 15x9 te37s from a guy on nasioc, but I doubt it'll be anywhere near 600 bucks from alaska to my door. Plus I don't think I could get anything wider than 225 in a 15.

so much for a cheap solution and not spending any money on my car this year -_-

I'm hoping I didn't sit on the fence to long - and I'm still on it.

Can we find the price before we commit?
Will Talon accept their coupons for these?

Hi Frank,

As per the post in the members section, yes we'll post the prices before anyone commit, no worries. Also, I'm confident that your Talon coupons can be used for these.

do we have to register again if we registered last year?

For those who won tires, do we post our sizes in the "Purchasing Instructions" thread or do we notify someone else?

JoeT

For those that won the tires, just post it in the "purchasing instruction" thread and indicate that it's part of the Win list, and I'll handle it.

Thanks
