Hi,

I was wondering if I can run these tires in Solo1 without having to run in modified or prototype class (I can't remember which one the guy at the open house told me). If someone has any knowledge about this please let me know.

Hard to tell from the pics, can't make out if they are slicks or the R6's. If they are the R6's then they are DOT and legal for the regular classes for Solosprint. If they don't have a DOT number, then you're going where you don't want to go.

I submitted this to the CCC (Car Classification Committee) on your behalf for an opinion. I'll let you know in a couple of days. Hoosier GAC's (Grand Am Cup) tires are already considered R6 equivalents. I personally don't see a reason that we wouldn't consider Koni Cup tires the same.

Alright, let me know and thanks for the help.

Steve,

has there been any response from the CCC?

Yes, but not exactly what we wanted.

You can run them at the school for sure if you're signed up for that.

You can use them as a Premium - R. I know they started with a molded tread pattern, but we'll allow them as Premiums.

Thanks Steve. What is the implication of them being Premiums as you said "not exactly what we wanted"?

Premium R is really how they should be classed; equivalent of a Hoosier R6, Kumho 710, Hankook Z214, etc. It means that you don't get bumped down one class like someone with R888 would.
