So this is truely the first time I've "modified" a car! I got the car Dynoed yesterday and the end result on the stock SR is 228rwp and 231tq at 11psi which I'm very happy with!

The boost however, maxed out at 11psi using an MBC i bought for $30...boost hits 11psi at about 5000rpms and started dropping off on the way to 7000rpms eventually ending up at 9psi. When it was set at 10psi, it would stay at 10psi all through the rpm range! I was told that it's likely my MBC! It could be the wastegate as well no?

Thanks,

Trung

Hi Trung,

Try this as a test, but please do it carefully with your eye on the boost guage.

1) Remove the line that goes into the wastegate actuator.
2) plug the line so there's no air leak.
3) Go out for a ride and see if your boost climbs beyond 11 Psi.

If it does not go above 11 Psi, tighten up the adjuster on the actuator arm, screw it in a few turns and repeat the test. Keep on doing it until you are 60% of your target boost then reconnect the line.

If boost never climbs above 11 Psi, you'll need to replace the actuator.

Hope this helps.

Hi Trung,

If you want I have a HKS boost controller with istructions. Part # 45003-BK001 v.31303
I was going to sell it to support my engine rebuild but if it will help you out fire me a PM.

It's complete with nothing missing and how new is it? I was told to stay away from "old" technology!

PM me with what you would want for it and maybe a picture as well!

Thanks,

Trung

Thanks Joe! I'll try that when I get a chance...service manager has been bugging me at work for working on my car so much!
