Maybe a little over-built.

Why would he need a cage like that for Gymkhana? Is the chassis flexy without one? Seems like a lot of extra weight. Is the roof scoop functional?

Have you seen his first video? I would imagine if he blew a tire in one of those high speed drifts he would prefer not to wreck it without one. Safety first guys...

I have seen his first video. Isn't on flat concrete the whole time? The worst he could do would be to roll a few times (although very unlikely) and a roll bar would likely suffice for that. For Solo, there aren't any classes that would require a cage like that and he's even running on street tires.

I'm sure it's a rally build or a build for Monster drink promo events like playing on the ski hills.

nope.... not rally.....

Vermont sports cars builds/service the USA Subaru pro rally cars.... which include Pastrana/Blocks cars unless they changed in the past year.

Crawford built the car.

An exercise in (like Tony says) 'turning money into
noise, one dollar at a time'...

And Mr. Block CLEARLY can afford to make a lot
of noise.

indeed... I'm sure he has plenty of $$$ and has plenty of contacts for doing other things than just rally...

I remember at X-games in 06 and he was destroying the car during the practice runs at the Staple Center (Tennis stadium in Compton)... and their crew simply re-fixed it and put new body parts.. probably went through $5-7k in just rear bumper skins.

The first video has had MILLIONS of views on youtube. Just the marketing value of that for DC/Subaru/Monster etc. could build that car 10 times over. I don't think Ken is blowing any of his own money.

Here's the new one:

I can see why he'd want the cage for this one.

I just got back from a DC meeting in California and I got a chance to check out Ken's tires from Gymkahana 2.

Looks like he hit a decent pothole :)

The tires had huge lips on the trailing edge of each tread block. Even wear side to side but it looked like every treadblock had a 1-2mm lip spoiler on it.
