As some of you may already know, I broke my transmission on the weekend and so far it is number 2. So I am on the lookout for a used one. I have not decided what to go with yet either a used 05 WRX or upgrade to the STi. I guess it will come down to cost.

If anyone know where I could find one let me know.

Thanks
Paul

Fourstar Motorsports usually has them in, if not, you can also get it rebuilt by them pretty quickly as they keep a whole assortment of repair parts for trannies.

Your skills + the capability of your car will probably mean certain death for even an 'upgraded' 05+ WRX box.

Might be a really good thing to grab a 6MT... in terms of missing more events due to another 5MT failure.

get a set of RA gears or a 6 speed
The RA gears are pretty strong and can be had for about 1200
its also a closer ratio which will help immensley

Why did you swap for a 6MT ?

I went with complete ver8 swap. I wanted STi powerplant, brakes in a wagon format.

If you are interested in some nice LSD's i may have some available shortly.

I have an STi Plated Front LSD, and an STi 20KG center diff.

The center diff only fits with the older style transfer cases, but i could supply this as well.

Also have 4.11 ring/pinion gears for both front and rear.

All this would completely transform the car.

IMHO, the center diff is the biggest single improvement you can make to the transmission.

Let me know if you have any interest.

I think that oldguy had some negative feedback from some racers regarding the 20kg center diff and tarmac racing. I think they prefer the stock STi center diff.

yeah..but road racers are...road racers ;)

with the 20kg diff, if you push the thing HARD, you will absolutely love it. If you aren't at the limit, and expect the thing to just turn, i can maybe understand. But how does that saying go "if you aren't on the edge you are taking up too much space"?

I've been to numerous track days with the 20kg diff and loved every single minute of it.

Paul:

Internet wisdom is worth what you pay for it.

Do your own research and then, pay for a couple
of hours of Can Jam's time... before you put your
money down for a gearbox and diffs.

They understand how to road-race a Subaru.

Good luck,

Rob
