View Full Version : Picton Accommodations ** Details in last post**

We have discovered that we can rent one of the Girl Guide lodges in the Picton area.

Location will be less than 15 minutes from the event this summer, and can house up to 18 people.

Accommodations are not 5 star, not even 3 star.

Consider it to be indoor camping.

It would be bunk beds, that you would provide a sleeping bag, pillow etc for sleeping on, there is a community kitchen, and of course, washroom facilities and showers, although of a more public variety - (like a gym)

As you can imagine, the cost to people interested will go down based on the number of people interested, and as most of us just basically sleep and leave, this is a perfect alternative to the $100 per night facilities currently available.

My wife and I are probably going to book Friday night and Saturday anyway, and everyone is welcome.

I have been there before, and I recall a fair bit of parking. Across the road there is a beach, and well, sandbanks very close for those visiting spouses.

OK. - Need a list of definite attendees.

Uhm, sounds good, but is this a girl guide length bunk?

AndrewR

Hahaha Steve, We can put 2 together for you.

The house is generally used for Guide and Brownie leaders, and although generally not very tall, they should be substantial in width, based on all the leaders I have met.

Hey Andrew,

Are you saying that SteveD is "Girthy".. LOL

STeveD

Ahem. It was the length that I was concerned about, not the width!!!

Worst thing about ticking the wife off is that our couch isn't long enough...

There is one room with a bunk bed and a single bed.

Most of the rooms have 2 bunks. - sleeps 4.

Just looking for an update as to what is the plan and if the Cave man and I can get a bed for our pit crew of one?

AndrewR

Odds are it will be a yes, price will be based on how many people.

We pay for the place+separate insurance / how many people.

So.. we need to know how many before a price is available.

it will be cheaper than a hotel room though.

So - everyone chime in if interested.

You can add me to the list for the cottage, I,ll be co-driving Sir-Knight's car, are the accommodation for friday, saturday or both? If it's for friday we'll probably go down then if not we're leaving Ottawa saturday morning. Sir-Knight will confirm since it his car! ;-)

Steve, if you can get him to provide timed audio clips, you'll have an AndrewAndrew. That might be better than a TomTom, but not for rally navigating.

I also have to back out for Picton.

Andrew do you still want me to pay for my reservation, I don't mind even if I can't go. It's the least I can do for cancelling last minute.

AndrewR

Ok, Here is the deal.

Price is $40 per person for the weekend.

Beds are bunks, bring your own sleeping bag/sheets/pillow/whatever you want to be comfortable.

We have showers, but no towels/toiletries - so bring what you need.

There is a fridge and kitchen, so you can bring food too.

We do not have insurance for parties/alcohol.

We will be meeting the local guider today at about 6pm to pick up the key, and then likely going to the local pub that you will pass about 5 minutes from the camp in the town of waupoos.

You will be looking for the Girl Guide camp, on the left side of highway 8 as you head East. It looks like a big farm house.

PM me if you want my cell # in case you get lost.

Post questions here OR pm.
