Do you have some kind of phishing agent watching for 'karting' posts?? lol, how did I know you'd be the first to answer...is the schedule ok with you this year? :-D

BTW, we've added another 5 laps to the qualifying since some take longer to learn the course than others...;-)

Oh yeah, and the course is a little different again...not sure what changed but we'll find out on Jan. 3rd!!

I am going to try and make it to these events, I think I missed enough events this year that it will be ok for me to go to these. Oh and I have been practising with my PS3 and the Dirt2 and GT5P and recently in HD so everything is now more clear :-P

Do you have to be a SPDA member? How much is membership to SPDA?

STeveD

Individual Membership is currently $40 for the first year, with $25 renewal. ($50 family / $35 renewal)

... but no, you don't need it for karting. You WILL need a CASC-OR affiliated membership for SoloSprint next year though if you do SoloSprint (which I think you're looking at.)

No you don't have to be an SPDA member to come out to play with the karts.

Membership for SPDA if you want to become one, is $40.00 for the first year and $25.00 for subsequent years.

Plus there are lots of benefits:
Discounts on Clutches
Talon Tires coupons
Toyo Tire discounts
Cheap dinners
Chance to win free tires
etc. etc. etc.

Do you guys have a system in place to account for kart speed differences? i.e. if you qualify 1st, you get the 16th cart, 2nd, 15th cart, and so on?

Also $85 per race day and a day pass. What exactly is a day pass? Does it mean unlimited lapping after the spda event?

Hi Ujjwal, I replied to your PM.

The day pass just means they waive the Formula Kartways membership you usually need to drive the karts. I think their membership is $10.

All the karts are 'paced' before our event to equalise their speed. That gets them fairly close. Kart assignment is random but maybe we'll do something like fastest drive in one race gets the slowest kart.

It's fairly casual so we can do whatever we want... :-)

...and I forgot to mention that we get a couple of pizzas around 11:30 to tide people over during the event.

:-D

It comes in handy when you're out too late the night before and don't have time to grab breakfast!

We're up to 13 drivers, 3 spots still available, and two weeks to go until ROUND #1!!!

I'm getting exited and realised driving around shopping today that I need a speed fix!!

tashko
12-30-2009, 10:39 PM
For those coming to race, please try to arrive by 9:45 so that we can get the paperwork done and get everybody ready to start the qualifying at 10:00.

We still have three (3) spaces available if anybody is on the fence, time to fall off on the 'driving' side! :D

Round#1 resuts are attached!!

Rob did a good job of backing up his web trash talk to share first overall with Torsten. Looks like karting experience is paying off with the leaders tied and 3rd place off by 12 points.

There was an oversight on my part and the starting order for Race#2 was based on Race#1 finishing positions, rather then the usual lap times. Apologies for that. It'll be sorted for the next round. Also, the pizza will be both pepperoni since we all seem to be carnivores!

The addition of the 3rd race made for a long day of racing and my arms were sore the next day. That additional race was a non-points race since Torsten had to leave. However, if he's not going to get to three rounds, I might do a best of from round#1 and re-score everybody based on their best two race finishes in round#1

Now that Round#1 is in the books, it's time to look ahead to Round#2 which is coming up on Sunday, January 31st

Thanks for participating and I hope you guys had a great time! See you at the next round!

I will miss the next one, but should be fine after that. BTW, I don't like Pepperoni!
