It will be at any Sunoco converted to PetroCanada as well. Although I don't remember the 16 cent difference to regular.

Sunoco will still exist, but if it's close proximity to any Petro Canada it will be closed. But more and more Petro Canada's will be carrying 94.

Meh, tune for non alcohol blended 91. if more octane is needed just call SteveD for some rocket fuel, :-D It kept my v8s from having detonation and heat issues even running 42 deg total timing

the 112 is cheep ;-) ya know $4.00 per Ltr is not that bad. Plus you car will have that cool race car smell

3c/l difference between 91 and 94
equals $75/year

Not really worth the price of a tune (unless you can tune yourself).

The question is which 94 blend is it? 94 from Sunoco or from Petro? I hope thye move toward the Petro Canada blend, less ethanol more gas.

I only use the Shell 91 since it contains no ethanol. My Mazdaspeed6 (which is tuned for 93 from the factory) gets 100km more per tank and no loss of power (according to Four Star's dyno) so I switched from Ultra 94 a couple of years ago.

May as well use 110 @ 3-4$ a liter... At NRCan, they force employees to use it on the corporate car. The car do about 30-40% less millage per gas tank. So a car that does ~600km per tank on the highway does around 350-400km. One of my ex-coworker couldn't make it to Toronto from Ottawa on a single tank of gas. So plan to carry a lot with you...

I'd probably look at doing meth injection instead...

I get 550 km out of a 60 litre tank (about 50 litres when the low fuel light comes on) in my MS6 which is pretty good for a car with this power level and AWD. I am not fan of ethanol at all and hope Shell never changes their 91.

I'm not too worried about fuel economy. Last season I put 178km on the car. I have to go to bigger injectors anyway and I can get E85 in town much easier than 110. I don't think I even used a whole tank of gas last season.

E85 is the $h!t without doubt.

I have been running it for 1 year or so now in my rally car.

If you can take advantage of the E85, you will get fantastic gains.

It's very very difficult to get the stuff to knock at all, you can run a pile of timing, and boost, and make a pile of torque.

Consumption is not that bad if you tune for it well, and i'm guessing you won't be cruising down the highway in the thing. consumption at WOT sucks in any car, so big deal.

Getting E-85 in the GTA however is difficult. Last time i checked UPI in Guelph will not sell the fuel to you unless you have a flex-fuel sticker on your car, and a green gas cap. And they will definately not let you put it into a gerry can.

One thing to be careful of buying from the pump is the ethanol percentage will vary a great deal from spring, summer, to fall. They will mix it all the way down to 55% ethanol in the winter.

Don't listen to those who don't like Ethanol, because they haven't tried it. They haven't seen the benefits.

There is no comparison running 91 octane pee, to E85.

I also gladly take the 50km per tank "penalty" to run Ultra 94 in my street driven WRX, as upposed to Shell 91. Because you get more power, it runs cooler and cleaner.

In my mind e85 also trumps Race gas...hands down.

The price gap from 87 to 89 to 91 to (now) 94 keeps getting wider and wider. I think the gap is bigger in the GTA. Last summer it was 11¢ form 87 to 91. The difference was 6¢ when I was in Manitoba. I don't care how the petro companies try to slice or dice it, they're gouging us.

I'm dating myself with this comment, but in the 80s the difference was 1.2¢/L to go from 87 to (then) 92. For a long, long time, it was 39.9 for leaded, 42.3 for 87 unleaded, 43.5 for 92 unleaded. Economies of scale should keep the gap down, but it has widened tremendously.

In the US, the gap can be as little as 10¢/US gallon difference from 87 to 91. In Buffalo it is more like 30¢, or 7.9¢/L. No sense in converting currencies anymore - it's almost meaningless (I know STeveD is not liking that).
