Finally some decent weather and some time.
Just got the car back to my place to start tearing it down.

There's some external rust to work on - but I took out the back seats, radio and most of what's in the trunk today, and everything looks to be in great shape under the carpets etc.

I have wheels on order - working on the brakes this week.

YES - I know it's an auto. The plan is to ditch the stock engine and trans in favor of a V8.

That looks like a very clean sample! Nice starting point!

looks familiar.... as we did the same at Alf's place on tore out most of a 94 jdm wrx... was good and learned a few more things...

between 3-4 of us, most of the shell is bare... and all the drivetrain is out...

Looks like most of the cars around our place. I don't like tan very much ;0) Stage one weight reduction, done.

Just got back in from another bout with the interior.

all the speakers are out, door skins and headliner are out.

NEXT - taking out the front seats, carpet, center console and dash.

Time to start shopping for race seats - any suggestions? I want to use the shell and sliders of the old seats (that way we get movement forward/back as well as up and down.

Open to suggestions at this point.

Save the door skins, you may need them as templates later. As for the seats if you and your Dad (I assume you are sharing the car) are the same height and like the same driving position, fix the seat in place. Many sanctioning bodies frown on sliders in race cars. If it means that its hard to get in because the steering wheel is to close then look at a FIA rated quick release from Sparco or SPA (stay way from the cheap "tuner" versions).

That car is in great condition, its going to be fantastic.

Unfortunately, my father and I are not the same height.

I'm 6'4" - he's 5'11" ish (getting older y'know :-))

So I will need to figure something out - the quick release wheel is a good idea - however we may have some trial and error with our seating positions.

Is it possible to have quick release seats?? If we purchased 2 seats and somehow managed to rig up blocks or something to allow of different mounting points - we could (in theory) swap out seats as needed. Maybe that's a crazy idea.....dunno.

We did pull more stuff tonight... My goal is to have 4 guys take the shell and walk outside the garage, or I should say what will be left of the shell...
