I know that a lot of people on here have decent computer equipment at home, too. The sub in my speaker set has finally given up the ghost, so I am looking for a "better" set of speakers for my home office setup.
I don't really need a 5.1; a 2.1 will do the job. I have had my eye on the Bose Companion 3 Series II, but I'm not sure about them because they use a USB connection, bypassing the decent Creative sound card and audio/tone controls that I have and use on the PC.
Altec Lansing MX6021s look interesting - standard audio jack connection to the sound card, tone controls on the desktop control pod, but some user reviews complain of a hissing sound when they're at idle.
My hearing is far from perfect anymore, but I do appreciate decent sound.
Does anyone have any suggestions, comments? Had/heard anything good? Anything to avoid?
Thanks.
