Rather than developing a track car from a daily driver, what do you think about purchasing a kit car like this instead, as an alternative?

You'd get a fabulous mid-engined beauty out of it, which would be quite the novelty at the track.

Here's photo, and answers to some common questions:

1. How fast does it go?
With standard Cosworth 220 BHP 0-60mph takes 6.5 seconds with a top speed of
157mph.
With chipped 350 BHP engine 0-60mph takes 4.5 seconds with a tops speed of 168mph.

2. What is it?
It is a replica of Fords RS 200 Group B Rally Car which was designed specifically for
rallying. 12 years ago its timeless shape appealed to many with its fierce lines and
contours. Our car takes motoring to another level with supercar performance and
handling at fast hatch prices. All with the refinements of a Ford Sierra Cosworth but
with unrivalled supercar characteristics.

3. How long does it take to build?
With a time scale of around 300 hours it equates to building a Sierra from an empty shell.

4. How much does it cost to build?
A Cosworth full spec car painted and trimmed, self built with reconditioned Ford spares
can be achieved from £15,000 onwards depending on specification of wheels, engine etc.

5. Can I insure it?
The car is very reasonable to insure on a specialist policy.

Love the idea of building it too. Always wanted to build a kit car, but sights were more set on a Porsche 550 Spyder replica instead.

I like this one though, as long as it is trackable and has excellent handling.

Biggest problem is that a lot of kits have crappy suspension design. They are not necessarily properly design to be race but more for show. I don't say this is is bad but a lot of them are.

BTW, factory 5 is coming out with a mid-engine WRX/STI kit. That should be a fun on.

I know I'm currently looking at some Lotus super 7 kit. I'm pending to go look at 1 kit. Once I find what I want, the Suby will be for sale. If I don`t buy a used one, I'll probably get a super stalker, for a 800-1500$ you get a full drivetrain with 240whp and 280wlbs That is cheap to repair...

Here's the reply to my inquiry about a review or test. I like the idea of building this kit even more now!

-------------------------------------------------
Hi Laszlo. Thank you for enquiring about our RS200 replica kit.

Firstly, I would like to apologise for the delay in replying. This was due to the factory being closed for the summer vacation.

In answer to your questions;

1) Yes, Merkur parts would be suitable. Here http://www.mc2racing.com/tech/EVO200Build.pdf you will find details of importing a kit written by one of our customers, Christopher Grayson.

2) The chassis is ideal for both track and road and has been proven over 20 years of road and rally racing.

3) Many articles have been produced over the years. Two recent articles spring to mind. Both were six page features in the two best selling Kit Car magazines, TKC Magazine and Kit Car magazine. They both have the distinction of being the only issues ever to completely sell out! I'll try to find copies and post them on our website.

We will send you a catalog in the post.

Finally, just being curious, are you Hungarian?

Kind regards,

Bill
