Cheap summer lapping oil? Is that possible?

https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/images/OED_300.jpgWell, it is now. Amsoil OE Diesel is a 15W40 synthetic formulation with 1235ppm Zinc, 1100 phosphorous. Intended for short drains, this oil can handle the high compression and acid building of diesel engines, but also carries an API SM certification for warranty compliance. Nice, eh?

I'm not allowed to quote prices on the internet, but be thinking that price approaches $7 a quart before the club discount.

https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/images/BRK_300.jpgIt's no secret that a few of us at SPDA do more motor break in than we should be doing. So, Amsoil developed an oil just for us!

Well, this formulation is a cross between our favourite AMO / ARO track oils and Group V esthers from the Dominator racing series. They're also packed with even more zinc than AMO: 1450ppm zinc, 1300 phosphorous. The downside: Only two viscosities for the near future: 10W30 and 20W50. And the price is in line with AMO / ARO.
