SPDA June Mailing – Volunteers Needed, ATTS, Ontario Time Attack!



Competition season is in full swing! (Most) Members have their cars sorted and at the events... seems to only be Exec members who are lagging in getting that done. We're certainly not setting a good example. :-) Maybe some of us are just waiting for y'all to develop a false sense of security... yeah, that's it.

Volunteers Urgently Needed


We're looking for volunteers to run some of the clubs events. Up and coming are the following:

Alfa club event: Powerade Centre Brampton, Friday June 22nd
SPDA Mini Monte rally and BBQ: Georgetown / west end Sunday July 22nd
SPDA Ontario Time Attack: Mosport / CTMP July 28th/29th
ATTS : August 4th DDT
Autoslalom Nationals: Barrie August 26th, 27th, 28th
ATTS Gymkhana: September
SPDA Ontario Time Attack: Mosport / CTMP September 1st, 2nd
No Winter Maintenance Rally, Flesherton, September 29

These are not many events, but we do need volunteers to dedicate some time to assist in creating memorable fun events.

For these, we will enter a special draw for the members that volunteer, we will allocate 2 sets of Yokohama tires specifically for the volunteers to these events! There will be one set drawn at the end of July, the other at the end of September!

I'll be at the Mini Monte, and very likely the Aug 4 ATTS. Hopefully I can be out to help at the OTA MIR day, though that depends on if I'm ready for the No Winter Maintenance Rally on Sept 29th (which we will also need volunteers for).

We'll do the "end of July" draw for a set of tires at the August Pub Night, Wednesday August 15th. Please see post #2 and correct us if your name isn't there. If you volunteered for the day, you're in. That includes instructors, organizers, etc.

PM me the days you should be added for. One entry in the draw per volunteer day.

Yup, it's a listed event up top..

It's a SPDA joint venture with TLMC so you get points for the Nationals.

There were seven (7) members present last night to draw for the set of June to July Yokohama tires. A Tilley hat meeting NIST standards for lottery purposes (freshly washed) was used for the draw. Precisely cut Post-It notes with aerospace grade mild adhesive with the names (one per volunteer day) were folded by five different technicians (and one mechnical engineer) in a prescribed manner and placed in the hat. The post-it notes were then scientifically juggled by an ASQ certified quality engineer and the hat was then presented to Yaz, who has no particular certification from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. After a thorough remix of the post-it notes, Yaz drew Scott Murfin's name.

We have one more set of tires to give away at the October pub night to volunteers for the August and September events!
