SPDA would like to invite and welcome you to the 2012 No Winter Maintenance Rally. We chose Flesherton because of the large number of crooked 80km/h roads that we can take advantage of! Please note, this rally may not be appropriate for lowered cars with body kits, but any other licensed car/van/truck that you drive to work like a Lada, Miata or a Dodge Caravan should do just fine. We just chose a few more "interesting" roads.

You can also call me at 905-702-0224 if you have any questions about this or other rallies! Please visit nwmr.caslube.com (http://nwmr.caslube.com/) for more information including videos, maps, links to navigational rally tutorials, etc.

Routemaster Trevor had a checklist for the roads in the rally. They included:

• dry lake bed
• drive at own risk roads
• decommissioned snowmobile trail (http://leerentz.files.wordpress.com/2011/01/olympic_nf_gray_wolf-56.jpg?w=450&h=300)
• "no exit" roads with exits
• steep hills (http://www.uliad.net/images/Year3/steep-hill-sign.jpg)
• unmaintained town lines
• scenic bridges
• narrow roads (http://www.delsjourney.com/images/news/news_02-07-04/319B_-_Truck_on_Narrow_Road.jpg)
• No Winter Maintenance roads

You'll like this one... it has a different flavour!

I do not have a car for rally ... both are lowered :( ...
I could help as a volunteer on Saturday if you still need someone ... just tell me what to do.

Don't write off most rallies... Being lowered isn't a problem for many of them. Just ours has a couple of spots where we don't want to try to qualify how "low" should be fine.

Thanks for volunteering! We could use your help with a CP. I'll add you to the volunteer list.

We can assign you checkpoints that are on smooth roads ( safe for your cars ).

Since it would be your first time running a checkpoint, we could also pair you up with someone else to work the CP who isn't that lowered. You can use his/her car to get around while your car stays safe at the Flying Spatula.

Steve, please don't forget to send me the "Details" on how to get there.. hahahahah (Details, inside joke)

That will be nice :).

Trevor, Stephen and all the SPDA crew that helped out - Well done!
I hope every one enjoyed that as much as Jane and I did. Great roads, not overly complex/silly instructions, challenging speeds. Add in an ATV rally, a triathlon, some rain, and it made for an interesting day. A "gotcha" in Leg A threw a lot of crews for a loop - "visual distraction" indeed! Ah, the siren call of a plainly visible checkpoint. And until the rain mid-afternoon, the scenery provided its own visual distraction. Congrats to all the novices who made the trek to Flesherton and completed the rally; hopefully we'll see you at future events.

How was it for everyone else? I was VERY disappointed to miss it. Any Results? More reports??

Trevor and I have been wiped out and we haven't found time to write it up yet. Hopefully tomorrow AM I'll get fully caught up! In the interim, here's some comments from competitors. We had 20 teams entered, a good lunch catered by the Flying Spatula, great roads, a surprise triathlon on route, a surprise ATV rally on route, an aggressive dog that almost shut down CP B2, and shotgun hunting near CP A7. Every car finished but there were many missed checkpoints.

had a glimpse of what my gps tracked that day. You can clearly see where we got lost (circled in red). "This way.. nope, other way... nope.. third time's a charm!"

Yeah, I think that's where Ted and Dave Maynard went off route (the road going west). Both roads (west and south) are marked with no exit signs, however both of them do actually go through. They're just not roads you'll pass in anything less than a truck or ATV (I've tried).
