Guess my first thread got caught in a spam attack...

Hi to everyone, "JoeT" kindly put out an invite for us to join your forum, so I thought it was time to make a first post and give you a little info as to where were coming from. Our platform of choice has always been the DSM, but we love all cars and especially turbo powered cars.

In order to get some more fun and use out of our car we decided to make it interchangeable for more than one form of racing and do it in such a way that the car can be switched from one setup to the other within a day or two.

Setup #1 = 9 second drag car (Super Street class). GT42R / 808 awhp

Setup #2 = Time Attack car (Super Street class). EVO III 16G / 440 awhp
* This setup will be hitting the track for the first time this weekend for some shakedown work. Should be fun.

Again, I apologize for deleting your original thread, Mark! I took a shotgun to the spammers and your thread got caught in the crossfire.

I'm mighty impressed by your Time Attack conversion! I change rotor and pads. You change header design, turbo, downpipe, and intercooler plumbing.

What spring rates are you running to keep the body off the tires? 808 awhp must be fun!

At present the car is still on our drag suspension and I honestly don't remember the spring rating, (not good for Time Attack, I'm sure of that).

We will have to weigh the car and measure a couple of things to help us figure out what will be best. We have already shed approx 100 lbs off of the front of the car with the turbo switch, but we have increased weight in the rear with the fuel cell and the amount of fuel we will have to carry. Based upon a couple other cars we have set-up, I can see it being around 675 front / 500 rear, but that's just a guess right now.

Yes, 800 ponies is fun, but it's such a short ride....

Spent the day at TMP yesterday doing some shakedown work.

The car performed much better than we expected for it's first day turning corners.

As the day went on the car was getting better and better.....and quicker and quicker, learning the lines of the track and pushing the car harder each time.

Welcome to the club Mark, car looks great!

What suspension are you running? I've been running 10k front and 8k rear on my 1g on old non-adjustable hotbits coil-overs. I'm also running an EVOIII 16g but only around 275hp. Tame but reliable.
I'm planning on running a few OTA events next year. You planning on OTA and/or CSCS?

Unlike drag where you try to run in the middle of the walls... Time Attack you need to love the walls. :)

Thanks Tashko, it was a lot of fun running the car on a circuit track. Lot's to learn, but well overdue for us.

For our "test day" last week we were running our KYB AGX shocks with Eibach springs, less than desirable but worked well just for testing purposes. We did get the car down to a 1.22 lap time, which we were very pleased with considering it was our first time on the track with this car. We do plan on a full set of coilovers for next year, just haven't desided which ones yet. We need to get the car weighed first, but it looks like a very hard spring rate on the front will be best.

The EVO III 16G turbo is a perfect turbo for this size track, very responsive and capable of good power. I believe it's not how much power you make, it's how well you use it.

We plan to run as many events as we can next year, CSCS is one series we will try and we are open to others if time allows.

Very true, but I did tell Pat (my son and driver) to stay away from the walls, didn't want to trade paint with the wall on the first day. LOL.

I have seen Sasha's laps, very impressive. Lots to learn from him.

Managed some time to string some video together for 2012 and to wrap it up with some of our shakedown work at TMP.

Very excited to be lapping the car next year, it's already going through some changes and upgrades at the shop. First thing was to get the power steering back on the car, just to much hard work without it. One of the good things to come out of our shakedown work, was finding out we don't need to add a 5th gear to our dogbox, least not just yet.

Car is up and running, now we just need this crappy weather to break, so that we can get out to do some testing.

Decided to go with a custom "Top Mount" set-up, so much easier to work on. So many other changes to the car, can't wait to get out.
