Friday I was planning to test my new intercooler heat exchanger at TMP, but got rained out. I looked around for an alternative and found our customer Mike Hayes was doing a Time Trial event at Watkins Glen in his GTR.
I got in touch with event organizers and they kindly let me sign up at the last minute. My crew at the shop got me loaded up Friday and at 2 AM Saturday morning I headed out to the track. At 5:30 AM I unloaded in pitch black. Around 6:15 AM it started getting light out and I took my time getting set up.
I sat out the first session since the track was damp, went out for the second session and ran my personal best time by several seconds on my first hot lap due to two simple but important upgrades we installed.
The next two sessions I dropped a second, then another second. Down at a 2:06 lap time I finished 2nd place in Real Time Attack Unlimited class, but it wasn't good enough to podium in the NARRA TT2 class which my car also qualified for at it's current power level (boost turned all the way down to 14 psi).
Sunday I sat out the first session again to let the track warm up. I went out the next session and got balked at the end of my hot lap by an SRT Viper Cup race car. I came up on him in a bad spot and he held his line while leaving me just enough room to pass him on the outside without going 4 off. See video.
The next session was the last timed session of the day so I knew I had to step it up and I knocked out a 2:05 which got me second place in NARRA TT2 class for the Sunday event and was the second quickest TT2 lap of the weekend. I wasn't planning on competing at all this year since we're building towards competing next year, but this event was the perfect opportunity to test the two new parts and it worked out great.

I'm looking forward to finishing work on the car over winter as well as aero work and of course turning the boost up! We won't be running 14 psi forever.
