Hey Barry, there's a tire width maximum on a Beginner Lapping Day, you know? If you're Speedster looks like an open-wheeled F1 car, then you've clearly surpassed the max tire width! Ha ha.

You put on a great EVENT, Ivano. :) I'm giving him the credit as the key organizer for this one.

Thanks to Caveman for the event Tech support and the first pictures of me running the "Rex." He got them strategically to not show retrocrx's CRX running circles around me. Ha ha.

Note the body roll of my stock WRX, the Daniel-inspired driving line and the Ultra 94 banner in the background [an SPDA club sponsor].

Pictures or videos, or it didn't happen. I saw a Ralliart Lancer spin in front of the starter station though. Lots of spins that day, especially at the bottom of the track, and thankfully no damage. :)

You had it back straight and moving before the marshal could grab her yellow flag! Good job.

Was that a nervous cackle as you headed out, or was there something off-microphone?

That same cackle was also noticeably present post spin. hahahaha

I had a sore throat all day , the starter had made a comment to me that i chuckled at but the squeaky cackle was all i managed to get out ... the post spin was me just laughing at the mistake i made pre entering the sweep.

Sore throat is now Flu ...

i wouldnt mind some ride along instruction at the next event i make it out to , i'm always up for creative , constructive criticism

Does this Caveman you speak of have any pictures of me?? I've got next to no decent pics of me on track!

And one more thing......I don't recall passing you at all........but I did catch you pretty quickly before I pulled off in those pics you posted. I've really got to sort out my cooling problem so I can run more laps before the car gets dangerously hot!

Rain Dance - I was driving my 2005 Miata at the Mosport DDT track in heavy rain. I was the only car on the track for the last 20 minutes of the SPDA beginner friendly lapping day on July 7, 2013.
Memorable moments:
At 2:00 Spin 360 degrees but I regain control and continue driving without stopping.
At 4:03 Turn down the heat for defrosting windshield and I open the driver side window.
At 4:40 Less than 1 minute after opening the window, I oversteer off the track and water splashes into the open window, wets the inside of the car and my pants.
Last few seconds, I pull into pits, get out of my car and the SPDA gang point at my wet pants and laugh at me.

Rain Dance

Guillermo,
You need a camera mounting position that shows more of the exterior view and less of the interior action, even though I have to admit it was entertaining to watch. :)

That was a seriously wet lap mate, and well done with the drive of it. Do you think you're a rain-master like Senna, or something? At times the front-engine Miata seemed to be oversteering like a mid-engined sports car with the reduced traction available, demanding lots from you as a driver.

Thanks for posting it. :)

A bit late to the party but had a great time guys, thanks Ivano as lead organizer!

With all the wet runs, all I had in my head was this vid:
