Hello Rally Enthusiasts,

The 2014 edition of the Black Rally is two months away. This year Black Bear will be held on Saturday July12th and Sunday July 13th. Rally headquarters will againbe at the community centre in Gilmour and we will be using the same roads aslast year for the stages.

Registration and Recce will be on Saturday July 12th and therally stages will be raced on Sunday. The change from our normalFriday/Saturday schedule came about as a result of feedback from volunteers anda round table discussion with competitors. With a Saturday/Sunday Schedulevolunteers and competitors would not need to take time off of work on Friday toget to the rally. Black Bear will need some volunteers on Saturday to help withrecce and registration and more on Sunday to run the stages. A barbecue forvolunteers and competitors will be held on Saturday night and camping space isavailable at the community centre. If camping out is not your style there isplenty of accommodation available in the area.

We are currently assigning roles and hope to fill positions, asquickly as possible with people such as yourself. Black Bear is a multiroad rally, in order to successfully run the event again, we need:

·amateur radio operators,
·timing marshals,
·traffic control marshals and
·crowd control marshals
·we also need some helpon Saturday the 12th to help with taping, signage, arrowing, recce, registration and tech inspection.

This rally has beenvery lucky in attracting dedicated volunteers, without whom the Black Bear Rally couldnever have been a success year after year. We couldn't do itwithout you!If you know anyone whohas never volunteered at a rally andis curious to know more, please feel free to pass along this information tothem. To help newcomers, Motorsports Club of Ottawa produced two short videosabout rally marshalling whichcan be viewed at these links:
