Have you tried JRP? They had Subie fitment in stock, and those are even more rare than Miata.

After my lower timing belt toothed tensioner blew itself apart the morning of the school (only skipped 2 teeth BTW) on dis-assembly, noticed that the tensioner for the A/C bracket was busted. ...

I would go taller. The 08+ has a much larger front overhang, and anything to keep the front away from damage is a good idea.
