SPDA Race Suits, Updates on orders!!

    Hi All,

Introduced at the AGM this weekend, is the new SPDA race suit. It's CASC Solosprint approved and meets the requirements of "natural fibre".

These suits are 100% cotton and are of excellent quality. Price for SPDA members is:

The prices below are being subsized for SPDA members, by Marino's fine cars and Proserve IT. For non SPDA members, please add $20.00 to the price of the suit. We'll be placing the order within the next 2 weeks.

These suits are excellent to use as "Solosprint" race suits, Autoslalom Team suits, and also as coveralls. For the price listed below, they are less expensive than the equivalent quality coveralls. Take advantage of the low price while sponsorship continues.

Send me a PM with the following information:

It's more than likely we'll be giving away some racing gloves along with the suit. We're currently negotiating with a potential sponsor to fund the cost for the 2 nomex driving gloves.

Nothing more nothing less. If things work out, you'll get a set of gloves with your suit.

Walter, the XXL that Joe tested was long enough for Daniel, who is about your height. It was a little snug though.

I'm between sizes, so uhm... my weight puts me at European size 66. 1x Proban please.

(If you read up on Proban, you'll find that it loses it's effectiveness with washing... but I would rather start with it than not have it at all.)

Joe, do you think we might do two orders? I'd kinda like to see how this fits to decide if I want to buy a second one just to get dirty in and work on the car. My zipper on the Marks Work Wearhouse suit finally gave in... It was my massive pecs.

Hey Walter, and anyone else curious.. I tried on some fire suits at JRP trying to find something that fit me , I'm 6'6".
64 was a little too short , 66 a little large in the midsection.
If your over 6'4" I'd go with the size 66
    Hope it helps
    Thanks again SPDA!!!

It will look fine, there's a velcro belt that helps snug things down at the waist.

    What is proban?

Re: SPDA Race Suits now taking orders!!

Proban is a fire retardent coating that's placed on the fabric. Not as good as Nomex but it's much cheaper. Main issue is that the coating will eventually wear off, only good for about 40-50 washes.

I use a proban suit for rallying currently, but hope to upgrade soon.

I don't believe these particular suits are SFI rated however.

    Steve,

    Since it's 40-50 washes, it'll last you a lifetime. 8-)

Actually correct, these are not SFI certified, but they do have the FIA-C1K certification, whatever that means. LOL

    What are PROBAN® fabrics?
PROBAN fabrics are cotton and cotton-based fabrics which
have all the comfort of cotton with the added, durable flame
retardant protection of PROBAN®. Flame retardancy is
achieved by the formation of a cross-linked inert polymer
within the fibre; because there is no chemical reaction with
the fiber, woven or knitted fabrics remain unaffected.
