The all-new Subaru WRX is coming. Pardon our dust.
Yeah - straight line the STI should demolish the BRZ.
The BRZ platform is going to be so big though - straight line bolt-on solutions will be everywhere.
Las - just for you, I plan on purchasing one just to put a big v8 in it....I know you love that kinda thing :-)

Don't you dare!! That would defile the orchestral beauty of the BRZ's handling.
Btw, in case you didn't notice that big engine didn't help the BMW's handling, mate.

What are you talking about? The handling was fine - dude, I know you don't believe me, but the V8 and the old I6 engine transmission combo are within 50lbs of each other. We had them on the scale......trust me. The M52 I6 was 460lbs DRY.
The BMW transmission was a massive heavy pig. I drove the car before and after the swap, the handling is still totally neutral (driver errors not withstanding). If we move to an aluminum V8 (in the planning stages), we will actually be lighter in the front end.
We also took all this out http://imgur.com/a/6513x#29
and this http://imgur.com/a/6513x#26
NOW - that said, a V8 in the BRZ would indeed throw things off considerably and you would have full permission to open hand slap me across the face if I did that :-) :-)
EDIT - anther site confirming our weight findings http://e36v8.com/ (read bottom of page)
