Snowkhana presented by SPDA & TSC

2013 Snokhana presented by TSC & SPDA

    March 3rd, 2013

    Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville

This is a family friendly event so feel free to bring the family... it will be loads of fun!

    Driver's Meeting - 9:30am
    Competition starting - 10am

What we are holding is a Safe, Fun, and All Skill Level adventure in the snow reminiscent of a Winter Auto-X. This is going to be a fun event and open to anyone who wishes to come out and have a good time with their car in the snow - Amateur to Pro are welcome. The event is not limited to Subarus only - Come out with any vehicle you wish to participate in - daily drivers of any kind are just fine.

Using the air strip behind the resort we will be setting up a technical course that you will need to maneuver through while being timed. Time penalties added for going off course, hitting a cone, etc. At the end of the day, we will tally up the times and those people in with the top times in various categories will be rewarded!

These are the classes you can enter in:

    CLASS 1
    All front-wheel drive vehicles

    CLASS 2
    All Rear-wheel drive vehicles

    CLASS 3
All naturally aspirated four wheel drive

    CLASS 4
All forced induction four wheel drive

The winner of each class will receive a Trophy and we will try and bundle some prizes in as well.

A special Trophy for those that don't quite keep up to the rest of the pack will take home the coveted.... "Ricky Bobby" award.

Helmets will be required for this event (Snell M95 or SA95) If you do not own a helmet, some will be available for use courtesy of JRP! Thanks JRP!

The competition portion is being designed and run by our friends at the SPDA, they will be ensuring that all proper safety measures are in place and that the course follows the strict guidelines for Motorsport events such as this. You can be rest assured that every precaution will be taken to ensure your safety, your vehicles safety, and spectator safety.

The cost to enter is $40 per person (people can share a vehicle if they wish but each person will need to pay the entrance fee)

I would like to point out that the fee we are charging doesn't even come close to covering our costs. We are relying on our generous sponsors to help make sure we at least break even... so be sure to thank our sponsors and support them. They help make events like this happen.

We want the event to be a success and use it as the building blocks in making this an annual event at this location....

Your entry fee will get you: (in addition to competing)

Continental Breakfast - Sponsored by Rich at Unibody Collision!
    Lunch - Sponsor TBD
Ticket for raffle prizes - Lots of prizes up for grabs from many of the TSC vendors as well as the SPDA sponsors.

Here is the menu that Deerhurst will be catering:

    Continental breakfast
Coffee, muffins, bagels, cream cheese, butter, toaster, orange juice.

    Lunch
Meat chili in a crock, buns, sandwiches, cookies

Coffee, soft drinks, bottled water will be available as well.

There will be food available for spectators as well. The cost for non-competitors is $20.00 (this gets you both Breakfast and Lunch).

Spectator food must be pre-purchased via this link: http://toronto-subaru-club.com/tscst...products_id=98

Everyone is welcome to come out to enjoy the day with us!
So even if you are not competing, come on out and cheer for those that are!

If you wish to participate follow this link: http://toronto-subaru-club.com/tscst...products_id=97 in order to pre-register.

Please, do not delay in registering as we may have to limit the number of competitors, so to make sure you get a spot, register early and don't wait. We want to make sure that everyone gets in several runs and we may need to cap the competitor number to ensure this.

Entry fees are non-refundable unless we cancel the event for an unseen reason, in which case we will happily refund the entry fee.

Now, for a bit of an extra special offer to really make this an event to remember!

We understand that the venue is a bit on the far side, but we needed to do this in order to ensure we had snow and the proper conditions for the course, so, for those that wish to come up the day before on Saturday we have secured some amazing room rates at Deerhurst Resort just for you.

With the rooms you can take advantage of all the amenities of Deerhurst Resort the day before like the skating, pool, spa, skiing, etc. Check out their website to learn all about the things they have to offer. www.deerhurstresort.com

This makes it a perfect weekend get away. You may want to bring the significant other and let him/her enjoy the resort during the event (spa, pool, etc) while you enjoy the fun in the snow.... or get together with a bunch of friends and share one of the larger rooms. It's all up to you... but we do encourage it as it will ensure you are at the event on time, fresh and ready to go!

It will also give us all a nice opportunity to have some social time... it's been a while since we have had a big meet where we can all hang out and have some fun like we do in the summer....

We are going to organize a dinner get together Saturday Night at the Maple Restaurant in the resort, then we can move to the Lobby Bar for and have a good time before the big day on Sunday.

Here are the room rates (as you can see, for those who want to share there are lots of options)

    Travellers Room - $119.00 - condo area
Main Building Room - $119.00 - Pavilion - Main Building
Lakeside Room - 139.00 Bayshore Building on Beach

Two Bedroom Condo - Greens area - $269.00
Three Bedroom Condo - Greens area - $329.00

Descriptions of the rooms are all on the Deerhurst website: www.deerhurstresort.com

If you wish to book your reservation, call Deerhurst at 1-800-461-4393 and tell them you are with the TSC/SPDA event.
(Please wait to register rooms, we will let you know when the reservation desk can accommodate you)

    As an extra bonus:

If you are going to come up the night before and stay at the resort we will reduce your entrance fee to $20 to help encourage more people to come up early. (We will refund the difference after the event)

We hope to see you there!

Well that's no fun... whatever could go wrong if you ride the limiter?!? It must be there for a reason?

Somtimes I think Valve Float in a non interference engine is mucho better than the piston cracking rev limiter.. hahahhaha

Should be fun, I'm in with the G35X daily driver.

I can see the foot operated e-brake and TCS that doesn't go full off making life interesting...

    SOLD

My brother is no longer able to make it to the (sold out and much anticipated) Snokhana event, so I have a spot for sale. Goes to the highest bidder... . I'm only kidding, it goes to the first interested party with $40 in hand. Let me know if you want it, we'll sort out payment transfer and I'll then have your name added to the list.

    No fighting!!

I foresee subaru piston sales going up in march. Some of us know the issue. Lots do not.

Might be a good idea to bring it up in the drivers meeting.

Or not and ill bring business cards ;-)

Haha, that's harsh, I for one will have my rev alarm set at a more conservative RPM.

Honestly not trying to be harsh. Just a sad reality of forced induction subaru ownership.
Well 2.5 turbo engines that is. 2ltrs dont seem to have the same issue for some reason.

And in the snow even second gear will peg the limiter in a heartbeat once boost builds!
Just be careful and conservitive is all

For those that are going up Saturday to Snokhana here are some options if you want to get together as a group and be social:

    1) Dinner outing

    The Moose Delaney's
    http://moosedelaneys.ca/home/
    3 Cann Street
    Huntsville

Here are directions from Deerhurst Resort to the restaurant:

    1. Head west on Deerhurst Dr toward Canal Rd
    2. Continue straight onto Canal Rd/Regional Rd 23
    3. Turn left onto ON-60 W
    4. Turn left onto King William St (signs for Muskoka Road 3 S/Huntsville)
    5. Turn right onto Cann St
Destination will be on the left

It is approx 10min from the resort.

    Let's meet for 6pm

    2) Reception at Deerhurst Resort Lounge

We will meet after dinner back at the resort around 9pm and have some beverages, laughs and a social good time.

It would be great if you could join in and get together as a group.... it's a nice way to butter up the marshals and get to know everyone that will be part of an amazing event on Sunday.

These events are not exclusive to those staying at the resort, so if you are local, staying elsewhere or whatever... please come out and join in!

I would really appreciate knowing who would be interested in attending these get-togethers so that I can figure out head counts etc.

Just post below if you will be around Saturday night. Follow my lead:

    Hey Joe,

I will be attending the reception at Deerhurst after dinner with 3 of my buds. We'd be interested in more instructional advice before the big day!
